Jun 06, 2017 GMA3100 driver crap performance Hey all, I have recently installed Win10 on two different Dell desktops (both different models). One was an upgrade from Win7, the other was a clean install (though the computer previously ran Win7). Buy a graphics card. Even the Intel GMA X4500 would do the same, I've had a GMA3100 paired with the flagship. The GMA 3100 was an integrated graphics solution by Intel, launched in May 2007. Built on the 90 nm process, and based on the Bearlake graphics processor, in its Bearlake-G+ (G33) variant, the device supports DirectX 9.0c. Since GMA 3100 does not support DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, it might not be able to run all the latest games. It features 4 pixel shaders and 0 vertex shaders, 4 texture mapping units and 4 ROPs. Due to the lack of unified shaders you will not be able to run recent games at all (which require unified shader/DX10+ support). The GPU is operating at a frequency of 400 MHz.
Its power draw is rated at 13 W maximum. GMA 3100 is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 1.0 x16 interface. Graphics Processor

Intel® HD Graphics Drivers support embedded platforms based on the Intel® Core™ microarchitecture. Specific Intel® platforms are listed in the Supported Platforms tab below. Operating systems are listed in the Supported Operating Systems tab.
Graphics driver features by platform are documented in the Intel® Built-in Visuals Product Guide, the Intel® Processor Graphics for Intel® Pentium® and the Intel® Celeron® Product Guide. For embedded platforms based on the Intel® Core™ processor, Intel® Pentium® processor or Intel® Celeron® processor with chipsets older than the Intel® 5 Series Chipset, refer to Intel® Embedded Graphics Drivers documentation.
Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Linux* are available in source format at www.intellinuxgraphics.org. Support for Intel graphics hardware in Linux distributions is determined by individual operating system vendors. Intel does not develop distribution-specific drivers for Intel HD graphics. All Linux driver components are up-streamed to their respective repositories once per quarter. Information on these components is posted on www.intellinuxgraphics.org under the Download section. Distributions may pick up components as they choose.
